1. Family

Momma's in the kitchen, rollin' out dough
Pappa's in the woods, doin' what, I don't know
Brother's got a girl that I like well
I think about her but I never will tell
Sister wants to start her own nursery school
Cousin's got a thing about power tools
Some do, some don't, look a little like me
Like it or not, they're Family.
Yeah, yeah...
There's a leather bound photo album kickin' around
With pictures of my momma's momma's momma on down
Back to the very first folks that sailed
From Dover in a ship like a leaky pail
There's a deep, dark, desperate look in their eye
And it tells me that I've never known hard times
They're branches and they're roots right under me
Never got to know 'em, but they're family
Yeah, alright....
Well, I am just a combination of everyone who's gone before
And I have been so lonely, but I won't be lonely anymore
Knowin' I am part of somethin' a whole lot bigger than me
That's Family
I heard a little news on the radio
It wadn't news to me 'cause I already know
There's people in the world with nothing to eat,
No shirt on their back or shoes on their feet
I'd like to give 'em all some dinner and some hand-me-downs
Crack a little whiskey and pass it around
'Cause even though they don't look a thing like me
I've got a funny feeling they're family
yeah, reeehaaa...
Well, I can feel a strange connection to strangers I don't even know
And I have been so lonely, but I won't be lonely anymore
Knowing I am part of something a whole lot bigger than me
That's Family, That's Family...
Momma's in the kitchen, rollin' out dough....
2. She Moved

It ended on that summer night, she got hit in their last fight
And said, "That's it, I quit, I can't take any more of this"
He got wise and tried to make her stay
Full of fear, she left anyway
Took the first bus to anywhere
Knowin' she could start over there
She moved
She found work here in Tennessee
A full time job in a factory
And had her own things, her own place
No room, but plenty of space
I met her while I was washin' clothes
She smiled at me and from hello, we were in love
But she had her doubts
So I saved up, and I bought a house
And she moved
She moved me in so many ways, that I've never been moved before
And to places with no limit on love
And when I needed her, she didn't hesitate
And anything that got in our way
She moved
Then one month, she was late
We were so excited, we couldn't wait
To find out what it was
Comin' into this world to seal our love
We were told not to get upset
But her heartbeat's low, and she's not kickin' yet
And when I dropped down to my knees
Prayed to God to hear my please
She moved.
She moved me in so many ways
That I've never been moved before
And to places with no limit on love
And that rock that held back the flood gate
Of all the gifts I've got today
She moved
Is it wrong to be contented as the setting sun
Never thinking 'bout my past, goin' nowhere fast
Until she moved me in so many ways
That I've never been moved before
And to places with no limit on love
And when I needed her, she didn't hesitate
And anything that got in our way
She moved
And that rock that held back the floodgate
Of all the gifts that I've got today
She moved

Well I've got me a front porch and a Chevrolet
Bills ain't paid but the money's on the way
Goin' down the river to get with my baby tonight
I must be livin' right
Cookin' catfish on an open grill
Reachin' for a cold one on a windowsill
Sliver moon sunset, my lucky star is on the rise
I must be livin' right
Now I'm callin' at the top of my voice
If I had my way, if I had my choice
I'd be standing on this hallowed ground
Myself and my baby just kickin' around
Me and Magnolia just lovin' 'til the mornin' light
I must be livin' right
There's a fiddle on the radio
Bringing me high, swinging me low
And it looks like she's goin' my way tonight
I must be livin' right
Well I've pounded the pavement, pannin' for gold
Yeah, I've been there, done that
Yeah, I've gone down that road
Back here the moon's so bright
Sure is good seein' the light
I must be livin' right
10. 45 Bittersweet Drive
(S.Fox/Joe Scutella) ©2001 Kredit Kard Music Inc.
(ASCAP)** / Village Idiot Music (BMI)
There's a pine tree by the sidewalk
I can't look at anymore
Planted Christmas morning 1994
There's still two names on the mailbox
A key under the mat
And I keep that porch light burnin'
As though she were coming back
But I force a smile and wave
As I'm walkin' to my car
Makin' small talk with my neighbour
Who lives so close and yet so far
And the sun looks down upon us
As it rolls across the sky
But even it could never see the secrets that we keep
And there's more to everything than meets the eye
And I keep mine at 45 Bittersweet Drive
It's a street like any other
On the edge of any place
Full of little matchbox houses
And every story has a face
Like the single workin' mother
Blowin' the hair from her cheek
I know her life so well
Though we rarely ever speak
There's old man Kelly on the corner
Busy workin' just because
He's gonna get that front yard perfect
If it's the last thing he does
Chorus
We all live in our own memories
Some are bitter, some are sweet
But we're really not so different on this perfect little street
Chorus
11. Two Gold Teeth
"Puttin' the killing back in country!"
(S.Fox)
©2001 Kredit Kard Music Inc. / Cal IV Songs (ASCAP)*
Somethin' happened I won't forget, way down in Lafayette
A man with two gold teeth came through our town
Sellin' little bottles of magic stuff
That could save your life or just pick you up
Water thin and molasses brown
He took everybody's money 'til it was all gone
And figured he'd just move along
And like a dead man walkin' he hit the road
As Johnny followed him with murder on his mind
And took the whole town's money that he knew he'd find
Then he took a pair of pliers to his smile of gold
He took two gold teeth from a dead man
And made 'em into a wedding band
And dropped to his knees for the one he loved
But you can't take a life and get away
'Cause it'll double back and bite ya in the butt one day
A bit of money and a woman's hand
Don't make one good reason to kill a man
Let alone two gold teeth
Well it rained like Armaggedon on their wedding day
And nobody was the wiser that the whole town paid
For the hall, the cake and the dress she wore
Bad karma right from day one
Doctor said they'd never have a daughter or son
And they might as well not even try no more
With no legacy or money in the bank
Johnny's luck was like a leaky old gas tank
And he was one spark from the fires of hell
And that woman got bored and started runnin' round
With not a quarter nor a half but the whole town
And he'd be better off in a prison cell
For takin'...
Chorus
Johnny carried that secret like a hundred pound sack
While his true love spent her time on her back
Until he went and killed her in a jealous rage
Now he's lookin' at bars and 99 years
Time enough to think about what got him there
And to listen to the voice of his guilt and shame
When he took two gold teeth from a dead man
He put a curse on his life then
And took it out on the one he loved
But you can't take two lives and get away
'Cause it'll double back and bite you in the butt some day
A bit of money and a woman's love
Don't make one good reason to kill someone
Let alone two gold teeth
Let alone two gold teeth
12. Earnie and Eva
(S.Fox)
©2001 Kredit Kard Music Inc. (ASCAP)**
The world begins at five at the eat-in diner
Eva's on the floor, pad and pencil in hand
While Earnie's fightin' traffic in a ten ton waste truck
God bless the garbage man
And time ticks slower than a Sunday driver
He can't wait to park it and wrap his arms around her
She don't think nothin' bout his Cheap Trick t-shirt
Tobacco smile and Valvoline hands
Half a missin' pinky and a little bit of knee dirt
They're just the signs of a workin' man
He doesn't mind her evil cup of coffee
He'll take a double with a kiss to go
'Cause Earnie loves Eva and vice-a-versa
And isn't love beautiful?
Earnie got off early so he went to see her
Lookin' track pant perfect servin' sugar pie
Talkin' to a snake of a man from New York City
Sayin', "Bite the apple, baby, please be mine"
She said to Earnie with the smile of a school girl
"I wouldn't leave you for all the apples in this big old world"
Chorus
I have loved and I have been loved
And isn't that all that matters on that last stretch of road
I do believe that's enough
Chorus
4. If I make 80
(S.Fox/Cody Scaife) ©2001 Kredit Kard Music Inc./Cal IV
Songs (ASCAP)* / Hope 'N' Cal Publishing (BMI)
Everybody thinks Grampa's come unglued
'Cuz he don't say nothin' for a week or two
He just sits and rocks like he's part of that chair
But he comes to life when I'm the only one there
He been ridin' that wagon since '73
So he's told everybody -- 'xcept me
Hangin' on a rope in the swimmin' hole
There's a couple of beers getting ice cold
He jumps up and grabs his fishin' pole
And starts acting like he's 10 years old
Everybody says Grampa's lazy, And his mind is hazy
But I hope I'm half that crazy, If I make 80
He holds up traffic every once in a while
Rubber neckin' at the ladies as they go by
Sometimes there's no slowin' him down
He's run a red light on every road in this town
He says "A hesitant man is a first class fool"
Well, I don't know what that means, but it sure sounds cool
Everybody says Grampa's lazy, And his mind is hazy
But I hope I'm half that crazy, If I make 80
Everybody can kiss my heinie, If I make 90
Nobody's gonna steal my thunder
If I'm not six feet under
When I'm a hundred
5. Linda's Diner
(S.Fox/Tim Taylor)
©2001 Kredit Kard Music Inc. (ASCAP)** /
Cavalcade of Hits (SOCAN)
I went back to my home town. It'd been a while since I walked down the Main Street , but lately I've been thinkin' about it - I thought I outta check it out. It seems like stocks can rise and fall, but no one cares in a place that small, and the clock stopped tickin' 'round '79, and Linda's Diner is still a shrine to the King of Rock 'n Roll in his Vegas years -- sideburns down past his ears -- and there's a picture of that Hawaii show that was televised all around the globe.
And there's a brass plaque at stool number 4, where old Earl Thomas don't sit no more. Where he's gone I don't have to ask; there comes a time when we all must pass. They've still got the green and chrome Troller milkshake maker. They give you the glass adn the tin container. Sixteen years later and I'm six feet tall and I'll betcha I still couldn't drink it all
It's like waves rollin' up over the sand. You can go away and come back again to a place where time crawls awful slow, and I don't know why, but that's good to know.
After dark, I took a drive and slowed down as I went by the little white house where I was raised (except it's painted grey these days). And in the blue light of the TV screen I saw a little boy who could've been me. And it reminded me of that old Twilight Zone about the man who tried to go home.
And I found myself on the old beach road and just like I did so many years agao, I put her in park and rolled the window down, and rushin' in came the familiar sound of waves rollin' up over the sand. You can go away and come back again to a place where time crawls awful slow and I don't know why, but it's good to know that as long as there's blood rushin' though my veins, I can always come back again to a place that crawls awful slow, and I don't know why, but that's good to know. I don't know why...
6. Talk Talk Talk
(S.Fox/Jason McCoy) ©2001 Kredit Kard Music Inc.
(ASCAP)** / Airstrip Music Publishing (SOCAN)
Well I've done my forty hours, and I've got you all alone
Swingin' on your front porch, and your momma's not at home
Well, I can't get no sugar no matter how I try
When I pucker up to kiss you, your mouth is open wide
Well, you talk, talk, talk,
Yeah, that's all you wanna do
Every time I get the chance to get close to you
Oh why, why, why do you just talk, talk talk
Well, that's a lot of words out of such a little kitten
And your lips ain't got a clue just exactly what they're missing
I'd tell you that I love you if you'd stop your flappin' jaw
But it's all yadda-yadda-yadda and blah-blah-blah
Chorus
Well, you talk all day
But I ain't heard the words "I love you"
In all that stuff you say!
You talk, talk, talk, well
Tthat's all you wanna do
Every time I get the chance to get close to you
Oh why, why, why do you just talk, talk talk?
Baby, you're all talk!

7. Follow You Down
(S.Fox/Lee Bach) ©2001 Kredit Kard Music Inc.
(ASCAP)** / March Family Music (BMI)
If I had three wishes, granted to me
I swear to you, my darlin', you'd be one, two and three
But I don't have three wishes, nor a diamond ring
I only have myself to give and this song that I sing
And I would follow you down
To hell or anywhere you might go, and back around
If I had the power, I know just what I'd do
I would tie a bow around the world and hand it to you
There's such thing as too much money, or so I heard
But there's no such thing as too much love
Inside of me for you my dear
I know a bluebird will fly
If you move too fast, her love will disappear before your eyes
And I would follow you down
To hell or anywhere you might go, and back around
If I had three wishes, granted to me
I swear to you my darlin', you'd be one, two and three
8. Stone Cold Lonesome Blues
(S.Fox/Lee Bach) ©2001 Kredit Kard Music Inc.
(ASCAP)** / March Family Music ( BMI)
We talked to the preacher, but he couldn't reach her
She hung her head and told him it's too late
Then she turned tail and left me, lonesome and empty
Something in that big old world out there just couldn't wait
Now I'm keepin' good company
'Cause right there in front of me
Someone's been walkin' in my shoes
B.B. King knew
Down in the valley, whistling through the pine trees
Sometimes I swear I hear her voice
But when I come to my senses, all I know is
I had to let her go, I really had no choice
Someone's been walkin' in my shoes
Earl Munro sang all about 'em, Now I've got 'em
Those Stone Cold Lonesome Blues
I sit and pick my guitar, under the night stars
Fireflies and crickets keepin' time
But those songs about forgettin'
Can't stop those tears I'm shedding
'Cause she's just like a melody forever in my mind
Robert Johnson sang about 'em, now I've got 'em
Those Stone Cold Lonesome Blues
Stevie Ray sure could play 'em
Those Stone Cold Lonesome Blues
9. Hard Boiled Love
(S.Fox/Lee Bach)
©2001 Kredit Kard Music Inc. (ASCAP)** / March Family
Music (BMI )
There's a chicken that lives down the road
Just about a half a mile or so
She scratches in the dirt and pecks at the ground
And when nobody's lookin', she's lookin' around
And there's a rooster on the opposite side
Wakin' everybody 'bout a quarter to five
He cock-a-doodle-doo's when the sun comes up
And it's music to the ears of a chicken in love
It's hard boiled love she can't get over easy
'Cause she's been lonely too long
And you can catch him catchin' a glimpse
'Cause that spring chicken sure looks good to him
But there's some old hens he's got to take care of
It ain't bad, but it ain't love
She looked left, and right, then made her move
She couldn't see the semi comin' from her point of view
Eighteen wheels, nine to a side
But she just kept on groovin' as it went by
She lost a couple tail feathers she won't miss at all
'Cause she's rockin' with the rooster and havin' a ball
It's the answer to the question from days of old
Love made the chicken cross the road
Love made the chicken cross the road
Now there's some jealous old hens cluckin' around all day
Watchin' that chicken and rooster at play
And there's a bunch of little chicks runnin' around
And they scratch at the dirt and they peck at the ground
It's hard boiled love she can't get over easy
She won't be lonely no more
It's the answer to the question from days of old
Love made the chicken cross the road
Love made the chicken cross the road

13. The Ballad of Big Jack Henry
(S.Fox)
©2001 Kredit Kard Music Inc. / Cal IV Songs (ASCAP)*
Have you heard the Ballad of Big Jack Henry?
Our tale begins with Hurricane Joe
Big Jack was a mere ten years old
He saved the lives of eleven lost desperate souls
Now if that ain't somethin'
And at twelve he was workin' in real estate
Just rakin' it in at a phenomenal rate
Spendin' his money on makin' more
Just watchin' it roll in
You're just six months old, my son
And I guess I've jumped the gun
But know that you're gonna be successful in some way
And I don't wanna put the pressure on a precious little baby
I just had to write the ballad of Big Jack Henry
Not long after Jack passed the bar
He heard another calling from a distance star
And by hand he built a rocket and he rode it to Mars
And took a small step for mankind
He took a guitar, plugged it in and turned it on
Next thing I knew, my son was gone
But I was soon to see him right where he belonged
On the cover of the Rolling Stone
Chorus
Can you say "over-achiever"
Or even "born leader"
Loving and compassionate
Do what you wanna but don't forget...
I've got big plans, little man
Chorus
Have you heard the Ballad of Big Jack Henry...Legend!
14. Trail of Tears
(S.Fox)
©2001 Stevie Boy Music (SOCAN), administered by AMI
Way back in 1815 in the revolution down in New Orleans
A southern general had his victory
'Cause he was strong and tough as Old Hickory
And the seventh President he soon became
On native lands he would stake his claim
And a brave new world would have it's way
And damn the Chrokee, the Navajo, Cheyenne and Apache
As I walk along this Trail of Tears
I think of all the steps that brought me here
And how dry my path has been, compared
And all I did not know
When you close your eyes on Jackson's land
Distant voices help you to understand
How many lives it takes to make a man a hero
And a cold wind blows, along the Trail of Tears
So many questions roll around in my mind
So many answers disappear with time
And still some say, "Jjust leave it alone
What's done is done, and what's gone is gone"
But there's a brass plaque down in my neighbourhood
You can still read one side of the story
On both sides good
But the other must have been carved in wood
And long since rot away
Chorus

15. 24' x 24'
(S.Fox)
©2001 Kredit Kard Music Inc. (ASCAP)**
December in Peace River, Alberta
Wraps around you like cold ghost's breath
And I'd curl in a ball on the front seat
Of an old Model T, I remember clearly
And momma would take off the chill
With a big bowl of somethin', most of which I'd spill
And we'd fit all the love in the world
Through a barn bord five foot front door
And any time you could see it, puffin' out the chimney
Of an old log cabin, 24' x 24'
There were six boots to tie and three boys mouths to feed
And just enough of everything to get us by
And when Earl Thomas needed chargin' up his battery
The good neighbour in my Pa was exactly what we saw
And through hard times, a World War and tragedy
The way we stuck together, that's what I remember
Chorus
These stories of an older friend of mine
Are like a black and white movie playin' over in my mind
You never know exactly what it is you're goin' through
Or how good you've got it 'til it's gone
And some day I hope that I might have a family too
And we'll take it day by day, in an old fashioned way
And we'll fit all the love in the world...
16. One Kentucky Summer
(S.Fox/Robin Branda/Lee Bach)
©2001 Kredit Kard Music Inc. (ASCAP)** / March Family
Music (BMI) (for both Lee Bach and Robin Branda)
People talk about those good old days and
Reminisce about friends and places
But I keep my momories to myself
'Cause mostly they're the kind you wanna hide
Or let fade away
But there's One Kentucky summer that I'll remember
Until the western Appalachians crumble down
Into the Cumberland River
And right here in my mind for all time
Is the best part of my past
Her green eyes, and the blue grass
Where I laid her down and let her know I loved her
One Kentucky summer
Like the lone oak, she's forever swayin'
To guitars, fiddles and mandolins playin'
These are the things that haunt me most
And sometimes I swear I see her ghost
Walkin' right out of that
One Kentucky summer that I'll remember
Until the western Appalachians crumble down
Into the Cumberland River
And right here in my mind for all time
Is the hardest part of my past
'Cause underneath the blue grass
I had to lay her down and let her go forever
One Kentucky Summer
I've walked so far since she's been gone
But if I could, I'd crawl back across the seasons to that
Chorus
17. Where  Was I?
(S. Fox/Victoria Banks)
©2001 Kredit Kard Music Inc./Cal IVSongs (ASCAP)*
/ House of Fame (ASCAP)
The sun is risin' on my window sill
Just like any other day
I've been alone like this before but still
Somehow it doesn't seem the same
What I didn't have didn't hurt me then
But there ain't no going back
Where was I before you came along
Like a wave on still water
Then you were gone
I was better off never knowin'
How good it gets
How deep it goes
And how hard you fall
Where was I? I wanna feel that way again
'Cause bein' on my own was easy then
And no matter how I try
I can't remember where I was
Before you jumped right in
Where was I?
Well I used to take some solace in my solitude
Callin' loneliness my friend
Sometimes there's comfort in having nothing to lose
You think I'd find it again
But it's like a train of thought I had
And I can't get back on track
Chorus
